The Brood
Christian

REAL NAME: Jason Reso
BORN: November 30, 1973 in Kitchener, Ontario
6'1", 227 pounds
ALIASES/NICKNAMES: Christian Cage, The Suicide Blonde, The Canadian Rage
Who was that mysterious Edge lookalike at ringside at Breakdown?
Why, that was Edge's long-time friend and tag team partner Christian Cage.
Cage, whose real name is Jason Reso, is from Orangeville, Ontario, and started training with Ron Hutchison at Sully's Gym in Toronto in the fall of 1994.
Hutchison recalled Cage for SLAM! Wrestling via email.
"Cage was a good student and a fast learner," he wrote. "After 9 months of training I felt that this young man from Orangeville was competent enough to make his ring debut. Now, unlike a lot of schools you must understand that I have two criteria for deeming my students competent enough to work. One...they don't embarass themselves out there and...TWO (and more importantly!) they don't embarass me!!"
Cage made his debut against fellow trainee Zakk Wylde in June 1995. The match went to a draw.
From there, he has spent time wrestling in southern Ontario, the Maritimes, Michigan, Pennsylvania and southern States.
Cage grew up with Copeland in Orangeville, and often went to see his friend's matches, as Copeland started training in 1992.
It made sense for the two to tag up, and as the Suicide Blondes -- Christian Cage and Copeland as Sexton Hardcastle -- they made young hearts flutter.
In the summer of 1997, they wrestled in the Maritimes for Emile Dupre's Atlantic Grand Prix promotion, and feuded with The Super Models (Rick Martel and Don Casablancas -- better known now as The Jackyl).
But the two have also competed against each other, including a match at Hamilton's Copps Coliseum on May 3, 1998 where Copeland, under his real name beat Cage.
In mid-1998, Cage got his break and went to the WWF training camp. He impressed enough that in August 1998, he was signed to a contract. He is now a member of the Brood.
Edge

REAL NAME: Adam Copeland
BORN: October 30, 1973 in Orangeville, Ontario
6'4", 235 pounds
ALIASES/NICKNAMES: Edge, Sexton Hardcastle, Adam Impact
After years on the southern Ontario indy scene, Toronto's Adam Copeland transformed into Edge, a mystery man who appears out of nowhere to inflict punishment on unsuspecting victims.
So what do we know about Edge?
He was trained at Sully's Gym in Toronto by Ron Hutchison and Sweet Daddy Siki. Other grads he trained with included Johnny Swinger, Joe E. Legend, Zakk Wylde and Christian Cage.
His most frequent tag team partner was Christian Cage, and the two were known as The Suicide Blondes. At that time, Copeland went as Sexton Hardcastle.
It took him a little more than five years to make it to the big leagues.
"Five years from now, I'd like to sign another five-year contract," Copeland told the Ottawa Sun's Tim Baines in a recent interview.
By early 1998, he was already a WWF vet, as an 'enhancement' wrestler for Canadian shows under the Sexton Hardcastle, and Adam Copeland monikers. His wrestling travels had taken him across Canada and to various spot shows in the U.S.
After participating in the WWF training camp run by Tom Pritchard and Dory Funk Jr., Copeland was given the Edge character. He know is part of The Brood.
Gangrel
Ever since his arrival in the WWF, wrestling fans have been asking, who is this Gangrel character and where did he come from?
The mysterious Gangrel is actually Dave Heath from Florida.
He made his name on the Florida indy circuit as The Vampire Warrior, with his real-life wife Luna Vachon at his side. His gimmick wasn't all that different than his current role as Gangrel.
Heath, 6'3", 250 pounds, trained with the Malenkos in Tampa, a five-hour drive from his home in Miami, which should tell you a little about his dedication to the sqaured circle.
Believe it or not, those fangs are real, and he has had his teeth altered. Like his wrestling, he takes the whole gothic lifestyle very seriously.
Gangrel is a vampire "as much as a person can be a vampire nowadays," said Edge (Adam Copeland) in an interview with SLAM! Wrestling. "He doesn't go around and bite people in the neck and suck their blood. That I know of. But, those are real teeth and he lives the lifestyle. That's his thing."
While on the way to the bigs, The Vampire Warrior was a star in Florida Championship Wrestling, battling Anthony Adonis and Joe DeFuria in long feuds.
The FCW web site described The Vampire Warrior:
"Many opponents have attempted to find his weekness, often carrying garlic and wooden stakes, but to no avail. His only defeat has come at the hand of himself or his companions, perhaps while becoming so focused on the destruction of his opponents, that it turns to a fanatical aggression, during which he often injures himself or his managers. The vampire warrior is definitely a force to be treated with respect and fear."
He also had a 'now-you-see-him-now-you-don't' stint in ECW.
Originally aligned against Edge in the WWF, Gangrel is now the leader of The Brood, along with Edge and Christian.
He has shown tremendous abilities in the WWF, and has an excellent chance of becoming a champion in the near future.
